Democracy for Hong Kong (D4HK)

In the past five days, five political figures from different pro-democratic parties have made unprecedented joint efforts to reach out to the international community. The trip hosted by D4HK brought the delegation to the British Parliament, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, the Guardian, Fabian Group, think tank Bright Blue, the University of Oxford and the London School of Economics and Political Science.

In particular we would like to thank Mr. Speaker John Bercow, the Lord Collins of Highbury, Mrs. Catherine West MP, Mr. Mike Gapes MP, Sir Peter Heap and Mr. Benedict Rogers for their warm welcome and their help in making this visit a success.

In addition to exchanging ideas and speaking with politicians, journalists, academics, and students on the current situation and future of Hong Kong, we have also made the most of our time here in London to advocate for Hong Kong's human rights issues to be debated in Parliament, to encourage MP’s to write to Mrs. Theresa May regarding Hong Kong’s political prosecutions, and provided the Foreign Office with more information to make the next Six-Monthly Report on Hong Kong more comprehensive.

We look forward to working together again to show Hong Kong’s reality to the international community, and raise awareness in our friends around the world regarding Hong Kong’s democratisation and human rights issues.
